Sardellas

30 Memorial Blvd W
Newport, RI 02840 United States

The Arts and Cultural Alliance of Newport County’s networking event, Arts Around the Fire, begins a new season on Wednesday, October 21 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Sardella’s Restaurant at 30 Memorial Blvd West in Newport. This free event is open to the public and no reservations are needed. The Alliance’s guests will be Rebecca Noon and Jed Hancock-Brainerd who will share information about their new installation, the “Cato Vernon Freedom Library,” a collaboration with the Newport Restoration Foundation exploring history, military service and how the little-documented life of an enslaved man reverberates through our own experience. Open October 3rd and based at the NRF’s Vernon House, the Cato Vernon Freedom Library will host workshops, lectures and gatherings through November 22nd.  A full description and program information is at centerAquidneck.com.

Arts Around the Fire is an opportunity for artists, writers, performers and audiences to engage with colleagues about events affecting the cultural community, and to learn about new ideas and artistic endeavors. Participants are invited to sign up for an artist membership or become a supporting member of the Alliance, a coalition of individuals and non-profits committed to the advancement of arts and culture in Newport County. More information may be found at www.newportarts.org.
