The Art of Planning

Some words of wisdom from Cose Bella

Let’s start with the basics. I’m someone who lives and breathes all things love. Whether it’s the dreamy details of a tablescape or the electrifying energy on the dance floor, weddings have a way of bringing out the extraordinary in everyone involved. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with countless couples, and vendors, and let me tell you — no two love stories are alike, and neither are their weddings.
Now, let’s talk shop. The wedding industry is this dazzling mix of tradition, trends, and a touch of unpredictability. I’ve seen it all — the Pinterest-worthy moments that take your breath away and the behindthe-scenes chaos that makes you wonder how it all comes together (spoiler alert: it always does!).
Here are the top three questions couples ask me most often, along with my best advice:
***
How much should we be budgeting?
Let’s tackle one of the trickiest topics: budget. This is a loaded question! As I mentioned, no two weddings are the same, so naming a standard budget is nearly impossible. That said, starting costs in our area often hover around $90,000. Instead of stressing over a specific number, ask yourself what your priorities are. Is photography a must-have? Are you dreaming of Instagram-worthy floral arrangements? Remember, the gorgeous weddings we see online often come with hefty price tags.
My advice:
Create a soft budget right away that allows for some flexibility. Then, work with a seasoned professional who understands the industry to estimate costs for each vendor. It’s the best way to make sure your vision aligns with your budget without unnecessary surprises.

How do we create a unique guest experience?
This one is very common, and also my favorite because of how ironic the answer is. How do you create the wedding of the decade? Simple: incorporate elements of who you are as a couple into your day. One of the most unique pieces we helped design this past season was a custom escort wall, designed to look like an airline board, in reference to the couple’s shared passion for travel.
My advice:
Ensuring your guests have an amazing time is a priority, but the key to achieving this is by focusing on what truly matters —making your day a reflection of you. Your guests are there to celebrate your love, so be present in every detail. It’s those personal touches that make your wedding uniquely yours and truly unforgettable.

Should I “DIY”?
DIY projects—cost-effective, right? Not exactly. I often hear from couples who experience sticker shock after receiving quotes and minimums from vendors like florists, bakers, and planners. Their immediate reaction is to attempt a DIY solution, whether it’s crafting centerpieces or delegating planning duties to a family member. But does this really save money? More often than not, the costs of supplies, the time spent, and the stress involved outweigh the expense of hiring a professional. Not to mention, you’ll save yourself the hassle and ensure the results are polished and stress-free.
My advice:
DIY projects can be both costly and time-consuming. Before taking on more than you can handle, consider the true value a professional brings. Not everything can be tackled at your dining room table—there’s a reason we hire experts for their skills; they do it best. Keep in mind, DIY projects often need to be completed closer to your wedding date, during the busiest time in your planning process. With RSVPs to count, family dynamics to navigate, final details to confirm, and bills to pay, it can actually be the most stressful time in your planning process so hiring the pros can make it that much less stressful, and you can sleep knowing you don’t have 300 flowers to store in the midst of August.
